New Place-based leader for Guildford and Waverley Health and Care Alliance

Jo Cogswell will be joining us as the new Place-based leader for Guildford and Waverley Health and Care Alliance at the beginning of October. Jo is currently Director of Transformation across the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire health and care system, where she has also been leading primary care transformation across the ICS including the development and establishment of primary care networks. During her career Jo has worked across a wide range of NHS settings in both commissioning and provider environments and has also spent 12 years in local government, working with local strategic partnerships and setting up new democratic arrangements such as health scrutiny.

Jo’s leadership and transformation experience, working across both the NHS and local government, and her focus on partnership working will bring a wealth of skills to her new role and we very much look forward to welcoming her to Surrey Heartlands.

Jo will be taking over from Louise Stead who has combined this role with her full-time position as Chief Executive at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust since December 2020, and going forward will be able to focus more on the work of the acute provider collaborative.  During this time Louise has been supported by Jane Williams who will continue to work with Jo across the Guildford and Waverley system.  I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to both Louise and Jane for their committed leadership in developing the Guildford and Waverley Health and Care Alliance and transforming care for local people.

Jo’s appointment offers an exciting opportunity to strengthen the breadth of leadership across the local system and I look forward to working with her and the team over the coming months.
